Earl died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at the Albert Lea Medical Center at the age of 86.
Earl August Levisen was born on Aug. 10, 1921, in Bancroft Township, the son of Jens and Marie (Jensen) Levisen. He attended Freeborn County Schools and then began working on several area farms. He enlisted in the Army and served our country from Aug. 1942 until April of 1946. He served in Company I the 328th Regiment, 26th Division in the European Theater of WII. Following his honorable discharge, Earl returned home, and on July 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Maurine Behle at Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake. He worked at Universal Milking Machine for 36 years, retiring in 1984.
Earl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood, a life member of
V.F.W. Post 447 and American Legion Post 56 and had been active in the Golden K II Kiwanis Club.
He loved baseball, gardening, fishing, photography and enjoyed visiting with friends at the Donut Hut, where he was on the &8220;board of directors.&8221;
Earl will be lovingly missed by his family: wife Maurine of Albert Lea; three daughters: Rosemary Lynn (Bernie) Schuman
of Hayward, Wis., Karen Levisen of Apple Valley, Julie (Dale) Hammons of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren: Keith Schuman of Apple Valley, Kristopher (Rebecca) Gerber of Minneapolis, Nathan Gerber of Eden Prairie, Nicole Zeimis of Lancaster, Pa., and Jeremy (Laura) Zeimis of Eau Claire, Wis.; great-grandchildren: Katie and Erin Schuman of Apple Valley; sister Helen (Norval) Nelson of Albert Lea; brothers: Arnold (Erma) Levisen, Paul (Dolly) Levisen and Myron (Pat) Levisen all of Albert Lea; sister-in-law Marie Metzger of Osage, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Marie Levisen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rosetta and Edward Behle; grandson, Kurt Schuman; brothers, Thorvald and Donald Levisen; and sisters, Lillian Bro and Doris Levisen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 S. Washington Ave., Albert Lea.
