JORGEN GRENE Beloved husband to the late Kristine Grene passed away at the Care Center of Rossmoor on September 20, 2004, only five weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Born and raised in Skjern Denmark, Jorgen was the son of Peder and Petra Grene. In his youth, Jorgen was accomplished at playing the piano. For five years, Jorgen studied at the university in Aahus completing a degree in law. He then spent two years in the Danish Army, leaving as a lieutenant. Shortly after becoming engaged to Kristine, they were married in 1954 in Denmark. In 1955, Jorgen and Kristine moved to California. In 1959, the couple settled in Orinda. Jorgen later earned a BA from U.C. Berkeley and a law degree from Golden Gate Law School. His career was primarily spent as an attorney with the IRS. In retirement, he enjoyed studying art and voraciously read books and newspapers in several different languages. In Denmark, Jorgen is survived by his brother, Poul Grene; two nieces, Anne Grene and Dorte Grene; a nephew, Peder Grene; a grandniece and six grandnephews. In South Dakota, Jorgen is survived by a niece, Lisa Troastle; two grandnieces and a grandnephew. In California, Jorgen is survived by a nephew, Scott Sorensen; a niece, Kathy Sorensen; three grandnieces and a grandnephew. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at Grant Miller John Cox Mortuary, 2850 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2004.
